Hi, I’m Ashlee!
Welcome and thanks for visiting my bio! I am a Registered Social Worker and I hold a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, Bachelor of Social Work and Master of Social Work (certification pending). I have experience in counselling children, youth, and young adults. Additionally, I have worked with members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and those who have had interactions with the criminal justice system. I am passionate about working with clients with broad range of concerns including, anxiety, depression, adverse childhood experiences, school, and life transitions. I believe in working to create therapeutic spaces that are fun, playful and honours the individual goals and perspectives of the clients I work with.
I inform my practice with multiple evidence-based theories and frameworks to best meet the needs of the clients I work with. This includes, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Polyvagal Theory (PVT), mindfulness and somatic work. I see great value in the helping clients better understand their own system and learn about the mind body connection. Through these modalities, I work with clients to learn new coping skills and broaden perspectives to meet their goals.
Above all, I value the importance of creating and maintaining therapeutic relationships built on trust, inclusivity, and compassion. I employ a non-judgemental stance and believe that people are the experts of their own lives. I am a lifelong learner, and I am committed to investing in training opportunities to deepen my knowledge and improve my practice. I also strive to maintain a practice that is inclusive and continually seek out ways to create a more equitable space.
In my free time, you can find me reading, exploring the city, planning my next adventure or spending time with my cat Pepper.
